The thing that turns nwoye on to the missionaries
and his father away is thathe told on his father when he
killed ikemefuna so therefor he got sent out of his village
because of the death thathe caused within killing his
own stepson ikemefuna. Thats why he had gotten sent out
    of his village.

nwoye is a very good son to his father exept when he
tells on his father. His father is then very upset at him for
doing so but he cannot stop the villagers from kicking him
out of the village. even though he wishes that he didnt
do so he still did it.

He cant take it back. He tried to apologize
for everything he did but he couldnt make the
villagers feel bad for him they still had to let
him go for taking part in killing a member of the
village. so therefore he had gotten put out if the
    village.

With being said about Jesus and telling a parable about the sheep and how he will leave the other 99 to save that one sheep.I believe that he may have thought about something in this particular sheep. He may think that this sheep isn't as smart as all sheep. If to help out , I may have an example of my own.

If you have 10 kids in saying. You and your child had a big argument or a conflict. Later that night your child leaves to run away. You will leave your other children to find your child. You may think only because of the fact that your other children knows better hopefully how to handle themselves well that that particular child.

In addition to this Ican compare this from what has being said in Matthew 18:12-14.

In the scripture Jesus says "What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying? And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray.Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.

So to me that just means.Ok say you are in a park. And you are watching your kids play.If you find to see you youngest child has wandered off.Would you leave to go find him/her.Not thinking about your other child.Well thats how it was for the Parable.

Nwoye was upset at his father. When he found out that his father had killed Ikemefuna he was devistated. So he just had to let his father be punished.Once he told the Missionaries Okonkwo was kicked out his village for what he had done.

Missionary of Nwoye is when he told on his father when he killed is own step-son Ikemekuna. Then he got sent his villageout of .His father is then very upset at him for
doing so but he cannot stop the villagers from kicking him out of the village. even though he wishes that he didnt do so he still did it.

He felt bad afterwards and tried to apologize but he cant apologize for somthing he was commanded to do.Nwoye was upset at his father. When he found out that his father had killed Ikemefuna he was devistated. So he just had to let his father be punished.Once he told the Missionaries Okonkwo was kicked out his village for what he had done.
In Matthew 18:12-14, Jesus tells a parable about a lost sheep, saying that if a person has a hundred sheep and one goes astray, he will leave the other ninety-nine and go to find the one that is lost. This simply mean the one is lost need the most attention because he is probably younger and dependent

The reason that Nwoye turned on to the missionaries and his father was that he told on his father for the death of Ikemefuna. So he got his own father sent out of his own village. When Okonkwo out about Nwoye conversion he becomes enraged and disowns Nwoye.

The opinions of the missionaries is that when they enterd the villages of Umoufia looking for converts. Those who convert first are those who have traditional been shunned in Igbo society.

Nwoye conversion to Christianity directly relates to his relationship with Ikemefuna and his subsequent murder because of Igbo religious customs.Without Ikemefuna's death, there would not be a major event that forces him to question of the beliefs to the village, that's why he told on his father, because for the religious beleif of his village.

The missionaries opinion seem to me disbelieve, Because they believe that it is ONE GOD. But the traditional religion of the Igbo, is to believe in many like a sky god and the Sprits. But I think the white missionaries met harm, they want to make the people in the village, believe it one god. They want the them to believe. But stubborn men like okonkwo would not give it, The way I see it the missionaries are trying to turn people and was being disrespectful.

Like it said in the book “ We have been sent by this great God to ask you to leave your wicked ways and false gods and turn to Him so that you may be saved when you die”. That what one of the white missionary was to the people. That proves that they disbelieve in many and do not agree with. And that prove that was being disrespectful.

The thing that turned Nwoye was not the stories or the god himself , it was the music. Nwoye fell in love with the music. He could not control himself. Like it said the book “ It was the poetry of the new religion, something felt in the marrow, the hymn about brother who sat in the darkness and in fear seemed to answer a vague and persistent question that haunted his young soul”. What’s that means is young nwoye fell in love with the music. But because okonkwo hate the new idea, nwoye was shunned by his own father. And that why Nwoye said that Okonkwo was not his father.

The missionaries’ opinion about that traditional religion of the Igbo is he does not care if 1 sheep is astray. Don’t leave 99 sheep on the mountain. The heavens believed that if you find the sheep that was astray. That if you find it assuredly. I say to you to rejoice more over that sheep than over the ninety nine that lived that did not go astray.

The event that made nwoye turn to the missionaries’ statement is when he killed ikemefuna. The killing of that what okonkwo made people think that how can you kill your stepson. He got kicked out for killing ikemefuna. Nwoye he was very good to his father. The only time was when he told on his father.

When he did that that made everyone very upset. They were upset that nwoye father was in part of killing ikemefuna. That’s why he got kicked out because that brought shame to his country from ding it on the week of peace. They think that is something very brutal for him to do that. Especially he was the stepson ,and by nwoye telling turned his father away.

  9. I Think there were a couple of reasons why Nwoye joined the missionaries. One reason i think nwoye joined the missionaries is because he wanted to escape his father. I also think he was looking for answers to the unsolved questios he had in his head. In the book it also says that Nwoye felt relief when he heard the missionaries speak. Relif from his enviornment or a form of escape is what i think he saw in the missionaries.

The missionaies had a different opinion when about the traditional religion of the Igbo. The missionaries thought that the only God that exsisted was the almighty God. They thought that all the Gods and godesses that the Igbo believed in were just pieces of would they prayed to. The missionaries wanted them to convert because if they didnt they would all go to hell. They also wanted them to go to school so that they would be prepared for what was to come.

In Matthew 18:12-14, Jesus tells a parable about a lost sheep, saying that if a person has a hundred sheep and one goes astray, he will leave the other ninety-nine and go to find the one that is lost. I think what this meant was that most people need more help than others. For example if a teacher has a classroom where only one student needs hlep the teacher will leave the other students to help that one student. Since the other students would probably be fine in their own they wouldnt need as much help.

In pages 95-120, there are two quotes that grab my attention. In chapter 11, the quote is “A baby on its mother’s back does not know that the way is long.” This is said when a woman wants to carry Ezinma on her back. Then in chapter 12, the quote is “This is the result of great medicine.” This was said during the preparation for Obierika’s daughter’s wedding ceremony.

Chapter 11 is about the priestess Agabala, Ezinma and Ekwefi. Ekwefi and Ezinma were sharing stories when the priestess Agabala shouted out Ezinma’s name. She said that Agabala wanted to see her and ordered Ezinma to get on her back. Then the priestess said “A baby on its mother’s back does not know that the way is long.” This quote means that a baby on its mother’s back does not feel tired of walking, unlike its mother. The baby’s mother feels the pain of walking and the baby just feels calm on its mothers back without knowing really how long the trip is.

In chapter 12, Obierika is going to celebrate his daughter’s uri. Uri means wedding. During the preparation of the feat, young men helped Obierika kill two goats. Of which the soup for the feast was made. Then they started to converse about how the market place was a wonderful place. Then Obierika says “It is the result of a great medicine.” He was explaining how the people of the village were competing with their markets. So according to the villagers, by making good medicine, there market place was going to be more successful than others.

I believe that Nwoye was highly angry at his father actions because when he had found out that his father had killed his own step son Ikemefuna he was in disbelief .After that he just had to set his father free and let Okonkwo be punished. Nwoye then went n told the Missionaries Okonkwo was soon kicked out of his very own village.
    .
I also think that the missionaries opinion about the believing of the traditional religion of Igbo is in fact some thing far more greater then what it seems . It states “In Matthew 18:12-14, Jesus tells a parable about a lost sheep, saying that if a person has a hundred sheep and one goes astray, he will leave the other ninety-nine and go to find the one that is lost” What that is trying to imply is you have more options just don’t go after the one sheep u may have ninety-nine more in your flock .

It seems to me that every one was upset in the text because okonwko being such a great figure has done some so jaw dropping , some thing so electrifying that it was no other way to react at the fact a father can kill his step son .Nwoye’s did the right thing by telling on his father to the missionaries and by telling Nwoye he was sent away .

The thing that turns Nwoye on the missionaries and his father away when I say away I mean kicked out is that he told. Someone that his father had killed Ikemefuna so therefore he got kicked out the village.

Do you think that when Jesus was saying that he mean you should not go and help someone as you need it. Because sheep are just like human. They have the same body parts. So that’s why I say that.

So to me I say that’s wrong. I say that because what if I say what if… one day you take us to a place your kids and Ur class. One of the girls and your oldest son walks off. You can’t find them what would you do. Would you listen to Jesus or would you go find them. Or is Jesus just saying that because they are animals that my question.

So as he finds out that his father killed him it ripped him up inside. That’s why he got kicked out his village. He bought shame to everyone included his son on the week of peace. So on the week of peace the last word means peace not violence.

The reason that Nwoye turned on to the missionaries and his father was that he told on his father for the death of Ikemefuna. Then he got sent out of the village. His father was up set at him. He really didn't want to tell about what his father told him but he felt quilty.

Okonkwo and his father choices turns his father away. I said this because what happen to Ikenefuna was suppose to be an secert and pose to make people think it was an accident. But Okonkwo couldn't take no more so he told.

In the quote below in Matthew 18:12-16 I think tis passage means that even though he has an whole buch of sheeps there he would like if every one was there its self. I also think that one of his stragey is don't leave any sheep behind.

Nwoye and Ikemefuna was very close. He knew something had happened when his father Okonkwo came back.He had a feeling that he killed His step brother and friend Ikemefuna. He was very upset when him.He was also a little scared because he didn't know what he might do to him.

Nwoye knew that he didn't want his father to get away with killing someone. He would not let this killing go away unnoticed.he had to spill the beans about Okonkwo killing Ikemefuna. He kne that his father was going to get in trouble. I think he never thought that his father was going to get kicked out of the village.Okonkwo tried to change the village mind and apologize but it was no use.

In the Quote In Matthew 18:12-14 "Jesus tells a parable about a lost sheep saying that if a person has a hundred sheep and one goes astray,he will leave the other ninety nine and go find the one that is lost". i believe that mean that people care about one little thing than the whole big thing.

Nowoye was angry at Okonkwo because he killed Ikmeefuna his own step son, and he couldn’t believe that he killed him because Nowoye thought they had a little bond while he was living with his father. Then Nowoye let out Okonkwo to be punished for what he has done to Ikemefuna. Nowoye was so angry that he told the missionaries to kick Okonkwo out the village for good. Okonkwo does deserve to be kicked out because he just took someone life that he didn’t want to take away, and that shows he is a coward because he cares about what people think.
What I think the missionaries opinion about the believing of the traditional religion is something real cultural and has a special meaning to it . It states “In Matthew 18:12-14, Jesus tells a parable about a lost sheep, saying that if a person has a hundred sheep and one goes astray, he will leave the other ninety-nine and go to find the one that is lost”. What its basically saying is that you have more than one choices to make you don’t necessarily have to go after one choice when you have many other to. I personally think that this is very true when I had a choices to either go to Branniger or go to Newark Tech.
In my opinion to me Nowoye did right by sending his father from the village because that’s messed up to kill his step brother when Okonwo didn’t want in the first place. I would be very angry if my father was to kill my brother because brother have a deep relationship and they look out for watch for each other no matter. I would do the same thing that Nowoye did with Okonwo because what he did is very unethical , because it ruins lives.

In the story "Things Fall Apart" by Chinua Achebe. Nowye turns to the missionaries that leads his father into getting banded from the village. Is that he told that Okonkwo had killed Ikemefuna. Which Okonkwo was very upset with his son Nwoye since he had told. Even though Nwoye really didnt want to tell the guilt kept building up inside.

In the text the opinions of the missionaries traditional religion. Is that when they enterd the villages of Umoufia looking for converts. Those who convert first are those who have tradition have been shunned in the Igbo society.

The missionaries request a piece of land on which to build a church. The village leaders and elders offer them a plot in the Evil Forest, believing that the missionaries will not accept it. To the elders’ amazement, the missionaries rejoice in the offer. But the elders are certain that the forest’s sinister spirits and forces will kill the missionaries within days. Nothing happens, and the church soon wins its first three converts. The villagers point out that sometimes their ancestral spirits will allow an offending man a grace period of twenty-eight days before they punish his sins, but they are completely astounded when nothing happens after twenty-eight days. The churchwins more converts, including a pregnant woman, Nneka. Her four previous pregnancies produced twins, and her husband and his family are not sorry to see her go.
Nowoye did right by sending his father from the village because that’s messed up to kill his step brother when Okonwo didn’t want in the first place. I would be very angry if my father was to kill my brother because brother have a deep relationship and they look out for watch for each other no matter.
I think that Nwoye shouldnt really forgive his dad for what he has done. Why did he kill someone very close to him that wasnt right at all. He should be really punished for that.

Nwoye’s did the right thing by telling on his father to the missionaries and by telling Nwoye he was sent away.this had needed to be done because of he knew what happended to his friend and did'nt wanna let that go.so when this happeneded okonkwo faced consequences and had to go threw them.so then okonkwo was told he must leave there village so he was banished from there.

The missionaries’ opinion of about religion of the Igbo is he does not care if 1 sheep was gone.Don’t leave 99 sheep on the mountain. The heavens believed that if you find the sheep that was astray.there it seemed everyone was upset but there what nwoye did was both wrong and right and can set both consequences and advantages to them.okonkwo had to face his consequences for ehat he done.

The missionary thinks that the Igbo religion is a bunch of lies. On page 146 the white man answers, “All the gods you have named are not gods at all. They are gods of deceit. . . The white man explained to the people of Mbanta his belief that there is only one god. The Igbo people did not believe this at all.
One thing that turns Nwoye on to the missionaries was the hymn. “The words of the hymn were like drops of frozen rain melting . . .” and relief to Nwoye’s soul that wanted answers. He was interested in what the missionaries had to say. But he had a fear of his father. His father thought the men were fools.
Okonkwo disagreed with the missionaries. Okonkwo grew up learning about the Igbo. The white men basically told Okonkwo and his tribe that his gods weren’t real. This is why I think Okonkwo was turned away from the missionaries. I the tribe thought the missionaries were crazy or sick in the head.

First of all a missionary is a person who changes a person religion. The missionaries thinks Igbo belief is a lie. Which is quoted,"All the gods you have named are not gods at all. They are gods of deceit. . . " I think it is kind of true.
In Matthew 18:12-14, Jesus tells a parable about a lost sheep, saying that if a person has a hundred sheep and one goes astray, he will leave the other ninety-nine and go to find the one that is lost. This is kind of a decision belief. Either you can stay with the ninety nine sheep which is more than one. Or you can go and find that one over obe hundred.
I think is was the right thing to do for Nwoye to tell on his father. Even though he is family it was the right thing. Either you can stick up for family and be wrong. Or you can do the right thing and be right. They is both a decision question.

Prophesying is to reveal the will or message of God. In the book things Fall Apart, Chielo the priestess of Agbala was prophesying. According to the novel her doing so was a normal activity. However it was unusual that she'd adress Okonkwo. though she wasn't reffering to him as she was talknig to him, but she was explaining to him about his daughter Enzima. She was saying that "Agbala wanted to see his daughter."

The missionaries opinion about the traditional religion of the Igbo are like if one say so, the rest of the group agrees. I say this because as Oknonkwo was trying to convince the Priestess to let Enzima stay to recooperate from her illness. However she inturupted him by saying "Beware Okonkwo, beware of exchanging words of Agbala. Does a man speak when a God speaks? Beware!" Therefore showing the strong beleif that they all seem to have. Then she did end up taking her carrying her on her back because "A baby on its mothers' back does not know that the way is long."

What turns Nwoye on to the missionaries is that they said they were wrong, that they were worshiping the wrong gods, they got into his head and made him believe that being a christian was the right way to be. Nwoye had been bought while others did not believe. What turned his father away is like the rest of the Umofians. They all disagreed and just said they were going "crazy".

    OEQR .

The missionaires opinion of the traditional religion Igbo is that they look for people that arent really for Igbo and they try to change them into being into that religion . Its like when your whole community is Christian but your religion is Muslim, then they get their missionary people to get them and basically change them into something they really dont want to be apart of .

What turns Nwoye in being Igbo is like, he doesnt want to be like his father. Yes, hes strong and that type of stuff but he has made alot of mistake that could of costed his life but he has been given chance after chance and he still messes up. He wants to let his parents know that hes not gone end up like him such as going to jail etc. and not being a "failure". What I mean by that is that he doesnt want to end up in the footsteps of his father. He doesnt want to be exiled or feeling left out of the village because he killed his own step-son etc.

What turns Okonkwo away is that he doesnt feel accepted in his village anymore. First, he killed his own step-son. Then killing somebody elses son. I feel that him being in that tribe is over. Hes through with even trying to fit in anymore. So that talk he was saying when he killed his step-son that he wanted to fit in and stuff but look at where it left him now. I feel sorry for him because all the killings were a mistake but he has to own up to his actions and suffer the needed consquences of his actions.

The missionaris believe that the igbo peoples gods were fake. They also believe that their gods werent true gods. In the text it states, " All the gods you have named are not gods at all". This shows that he believed that there gods aren't true.

The missionaries worshipped a different god also they were christians. They believed there was only one god. One true god which was theirs. Nwoye was turned to them because of the hymn that was said. He was interested in what the missionaries had to say.

Okonkwo didn't agree with the missionaries. Okonkwo knew much about the Igbo. The white men told Okonkwo his gods weren’t real. This is why I think Okonkwo was turned off about what the missionaries said. I the tribe thought the missionaries were crazy or sick in the head.
