It means that the man in the fatherland is good and life is sweet means that the men have no worry of life and think that they can be strong as the warriors and the men that they are in the story, but if things get sorrow they need some of the motherland characteristics because women provide the men happiness.

Okonkwo he doen't care, the only thing he care about is winning. He doesn't care for women's support of happiness. He thinks if he has the motherland's happiness,he would turn less than a man/warrior.That he woud end up like his father,a failure and that is Okonkwo's deepest fear in life.

Uchenda told Okonwo that when there is bitterness and sorrow the man finds refuge in his motherland. The mother is there to protect you in any situation. She is buried there in the motherland and that iks why the mother is supreme. To comfort you,to make you feel safe while you don't feel like yourself or other stuff that makes anybody feel sad.

Uchenda also told Okonkwo to comfort your wives and children and take them back to his fatherland after seven years. But if he allow sorrow to weigh him down and kill him,th family would die in exile.Meaning that Okonkwo needs motherland as the same amount of his fatherland.

The child does belongs to the father, but when the father beats his child,it seeks sympathy in it's mother's land. The motherland feels sorr for the child sorrow and wishes to do something about because the men need something good to happen and that's when the women step in.

For example,Nwoye,he is nothing like his father, but he also resembles his grandfather. Also somehow he is a better man because he always be around his mother's and his other two mother's,he may have betrayed his father and got him banished he got the courage to join a new Christianity.

In conlusion the man is the head of the household or his obi,but when the women isn't around to comfort you after your hard day of hunting or getting some wtaer or anything.I've seen some guys do idiotic stuff wihtout no hapiness in their lives

THIS QUOTE MEANS THAT WHEN A MAN IS NOT GOING THROUGH THAT MUCH TROUBLE HE STAYS WITH HIS FATHER BECAUSE IF HE STAYS WITH HIS FATHER WHEN HE GOES THROUGH TROUBLE THE TROUBLE WONT GET RESOLVED AAND IF THE MAN IN WITH HIS MOTHER THE PROBLEM WILL GET RESOLVED SO THATS WHY THEY CALL THE MOTHER SUPREME. IT ALSO MEANS THE MAN IN THE FATHERLAND IS GOOD AND LIFE SWEET MEANS THAT THE MEN HAVE NO WORRY OF LIFE AND THINK THAT THEY CAN BE STRONG AS THE WARRIORS AND THE MEN THAT THEY ARE. BUT THE WOMEN BRING THE MEN HAPPINESS WHEN THEY'RE IN SORROW.

Okonkwo he doen't care, the only thing he care about is winning. He doesn't care for women's support of happiness. He thinks if he has the motherland's happiness,he would turn less than a man/warrior.That he woud end up like his father,a failure and that is Okonkwo's deepest fear in life.

"A man belongs to his fatherland when things are good and life is sweet. But when there is sorrow and bitterness he finds refuge in his motherland...And that is why we say that mother is surpreme." This qoute means,in the beginning when are going good the men fell they can be the strong men they are.But then when things get rough they go to their mother's because they can bring confort and care. Also the problems will get solved.

Okonkwo he doen't care, the only thing he care about is winning. He doesn't care for women's support of happiness. He thinks if he has the motherland's happiness,he would turn less than a man/warrior.That he woud end up like his father,a failure and that is Okonkwo's deepest fear in life.

The implied message is that your mother is there to comfort you. A mother is a symbol of stronger protection. The relationship between a mother and child starts from the child’s first days of gestation. When things are good, a man belongs to his fatherland. A dad just gives the physical strength. For example, Okonkwo and Nwoye.

A mother is there to comfort her children. When a child needs comfort on the emotional level, his/her mother is there. For example Nwoye and his mom. When Okonkwo beat Nwoye because Ikemefuna was killed, Nwoye went to his mom. His mother was there to comfort him. Okonkwo would never have comforted Nwoye as his mom did.

Although a dad is the head of the family, a mother is stronger. I don’t mean physically. I mean stronger on a loving, tender and sometimes verbally speaking. A mom would talk in a sweeter way to her child. A dad is physically stronger compared to a mom.

The relationship between a mother and a child starts from the first days of gestation. There is a stronger bond. This because a mother carries the baby in her womb for nine months. Even if a child has a good relationship with both parents, the relationship between mom and child is always deeper. Symbolically speaking, the umbilical cord is never cut.

When everything is good and life is sweet, a man belongs to his fatherland. This is because in the book when you are with your father, everything must go well. Everything you do must be well done. Without errors. So when life is good and happy it is better to agree and be on your fatherland.

Like I said before, a mom gives you emotional support. So a dad gives his children physical strength. He shows his children how the job is done. He gives instructions that must be followed or else. Dad gives the image of roughness and power.

For example Okonkwo and Nwoye. Okonkwo is the strong, authority figure. Nwoye has to be like his dad. But when Nwoye would cry Okonkwo would get mad and beat him. Okonkwo wanted Nwoye and his other sons to be manly and tough, not caring like him.

A man belongs to his fatherland when things are good. But when there is sorrow and bitterness you go to the mother land. I think it means that when things are going bad they go to the mom but when its good you go too the father the moms love you more.

Okonkwo doesnt care about anything but winning not losing. He doesnt care for support of womens happiness. He thinks if he has the mother abd motherlands happiness he would turn less of a man and less of a warrior.

Uchendu told him that when there is bitterness and sorrow the man finds it easier to go to the motherland. The mom is there to protect you. Comfort you to make you feel safe like you dont feel good aboutt thing cause your mad and sad.

The child does belong to the father. But when he beats the child. The mom starts to feel sad and seeks empathy. The mother wants to take care of the child as much as she can.

I also think that quote means love. There is a saying it goes there is n0 love like the mothers love. You see in the world there is more dead beat fathers thatn mothers. Thats because the moms really care about the child its just that sometimes they cantt handle them.

Nwoye resembles oolonkwos father nothim. He is a better man because he always been around his mothers land. So thats why I say that okonkwo is a deadbeat father he cant take care of his family cause he always is worring about wrestling.

IN conclusion I think the man is the ruler. But the women is the lover. She will take you in no matter what you do or did. Always remember the moms love you more that the dad will ever love you.

What the message is trying to explain is that when you are in your fatherland life is good for you. Also you really do not have any major problems that are going on. When there is sorrow and bitterness that’s when you go to the motherland. That part means that when you are having a rough tine with something a mother can help you out. That is why they say that the mother is supreme.

For example in the story nwoye he really did not hang out with okonkwo. He hung out more with his mother, because nwoye did not want to do what his father does. Nwoye he just wanted to do what he liked to do instead of killing and all of the evil stuff that his father is into. Also it is like nwoye’s father really did not understand nwoye’s personal problems. But his mother kind of could understand if nwoye had problems personally.

Also this quote means that only the mother of that child can handle the big problems that the child has. And the father does not really see the problem. “Those who hear my words are my mother and my father”. What that quote actually means is that when you speak the people who understand you the most is your parents. They made you of course so why would they not be able to hear you

“Unless you shave off the mark of your heathen belief I will not admit you into the church”. What that quote means is that to be a Christian you have to give up any other religion that you did before. So to be a Christian you have to believe in positive things only never negative. Also you would have to do things that not only you would benefit. But everyone around you could benefit from.

Also the message is trying to convey is that no one knows you better than your mother. You are the reason why your mother gets up in the morning. You are the reason why your mother wants to strive for greatness. “What goes around comes around”. That quote means that for example if you are an evil person it can come back to haunt you. But if you are nice and kind hearted there would be countless amounts of blessings waiting for you in life.
I also believe that the quote means that every time you are in you in the presents all is wonderful. But when you are with your mother everything for you is bad and your mother is there to help you get through it. I actually believe that Quote because when you think about it. Most of that makes sense because most fathers do not know how to fix problems like mothers can. So I do agree with that quote for the most part.

In conclusion I believe that most mothers are more supreme than the fathers. The reason is that mothers do things for there child that a father would not do. A mother actually holds your hand and guides you through the obstacle that you are facing. And 9 times out of 10 for a father that would most definitely cross there mind. They would just look at it as more problem for their wife.

There are many quotes that the elders use in things fall apart.Their are may saying that everyone in Umoufia and Mbanta live by.By them believing in them quotes, that made them very successful. The name Mother is Supreme or Nneka is a name that Mbanta live by.One of Okonkwo's child before it died was named that

Okonkwo's uncle, Uchendu said that "A man belongs to his fatherland when things are good and sweet. But when there is sorrow and bitterness he finds refuge in his motherland. And thats why we say that Mother is Supreme".That means if anything goes wrong in the fatherland. They can always go to the motherland.

An example is Okonkwo. He was kicked out of his fatherland for disobeying the law. That caused him to move into his motherland for six years. When he left it was filled with sorrow and bitterness.Since that he found refuge in his motherland.

If it was not was not for Okonkwo's motherland, he would not have had anywhere for his to go.that is a good example of Mother is Supreme.Even though his mother is dead, she still helped him with a home for him and his family.Even though he belonged to his fatherland.Okonkwo found refuge in his motherland.

What the saying really means is that if something is going wrong in your father land. You will always have your motherland to go to.You may not leave your fatherland for no other reason but that.If everything is sweet, there is no reason for you to go to your motherland.okonkwo did not know what that meant until his uncle told him.

When Okonkwo came to Mbanta, which is his mothers homeland ,they helped him. They gave him seeds to plant is food. They gave him a field and land for his yams and his family to stay. His motherland helped his in his sorrow and bitterness. That is why Mother is Supreme.

A man belongs to his fatherland when things are good and life is sweet. But when there is sorrow and bitterness. He finds refuge in his motherland. And that is why we say that Mother is Supreme.

    Wkend Essay 5

The quote I'm going to explain is "A man belongs to his fatherland when things are good and life is sweet. But when there is sorrow and bitterness he finds refuge in his motherland...And that is why we say that mother is surpreme." This quote is about [well reqarding] the Ibo women in the village. This quote sounds like this relates to Okonkwo and when he had to go to his mothers village because of "cast away". This quote is very interesting because Okonkwo was one strong man in which he still is but after what he did [killed a few kids] he had to run to his mother because thats where the "cast away" I guess was held for Okonkwo. This quote can relate to many people in USA .

The first part of the quote is A man belongs to his fatherland when things are good and life is sweet. I think this part means that a man belongs to "manhood" when things are going soothly and nothing is going bad. Okonkwo had belong to his fatherland when things at home w/ his wife and his kids were going good. And his life was great. Between his kids, his wifes and his wrestling. All that stuff contributes into a man being in his fatherhood.

The second part of this quote is But when there is sorrow and bitterness he finds refuge in his motherland... I think this means when the man has sorrow and bitterness in hiself and his household, he runs to his motherland. Okonkwo was feeling alot of sorrow and bitterness because he had killed a few people and he didnt do them on purpose. They were accidental. But since he did them , he had to find hiself in cast away in his motherland. So, he was under his moms roof, with his mother rules etc. I knew that that probally sucked but he had to suffer the consquences of his actions.

The third part of this quote is And that is why we say that mother is surpreme. I think that means that when you do bad things, you gotta go to your mothers house and deal with her bs. I think Okonkwos mother was the "man" while Okonkwo was the "wife and kids". I know that alot of men dont like when the women takes charge because they feel like they are not a man and that they are punks. But his mother helped him grow into becoming the man he orginally was until he did what he did. His mom didnt treat him like a prisioner but he had to follow the rules of her household like anybody would in USA. Well respectful children would do.

This quote in general is very interesting. I say that because a man can be a man when things at home are going smoothly. And when a man cant be a man during sorrow and bitterness because he cant control that anger he may have inside because of whatever had happened that day or time or whatever. And thats when the man goes to his moms land and deals with her but also help her because w/o her help. He would still be very sorrow nd bitter.

Also, when sorrow and bitter you do things that you regret doing in the first place because your not thinking about what your doing. Mainly because your mainly just thinking about that situation. Also, what went place and how you shouldnt had never done that. But during his cast away, I do believe that hes changed and became a better man than what he orginially was. Maybe what he did changed him and made him better. Many people believe otherwise.

In conclusion, this quote is a very good quote. It really makes sense. I also think mothers are very "surpreme" than fathers. I say that because mothers are there to comfort you. But like fathers they mainly judge you and yell at you for something you did wrong. But not moms. Most people go to their mothers to talk to and comfort them during their worst times. But fathers, I believe just make it worse. Thats why moms are more "surpreme" than fathers.

Fatherland is one's native country. Motherland is the land of one's ancestors. Supreme means the greatest, utmost, or extreme. So to say that, " A man belongs to his fatherland when things are good and life is sweet."Means that men can practically do whatever they please. However if they just so happen to go wrong, they manage to turn to the comfort of theoir mothers therfore making mother "supreme."

Back in Okonkwo's fatherland, he had accidentally killed a boy and was punished. He was banned from his homeland for seven years, and relocated to Mbanta, his motherland. In his motherland they treated him well. He felt the need to show his gratitude by holding a feast. Ekwefi approached Okonkwo suggesting that two goats would be sufficient for the feast that was going to be held. He disregarded her opinion and said "it was not her affair."

In today's society females are naive, warmhearted and weak. Opposed to men who are considered smart, not as friendly and powerful. According to the novel the child belongs to its father. However when the father beats his child, it runs off to seek comfort from their mother. Amother does her sympathetic healing and offers her words to help the child. To relate to myself, I agree because I get more of my wants accomplished when I go to my mother than when I go to my father.

Okonkwo as a father in my opinion is demanding, intimidating, daunting and agressive. I feel he is this way because of how his ego is. In my opinion he acts as if he is better than most. My father only acts like that when my siblings and I are around. We have to do whatever he wants us to do. However when my father or any of my uncles (my father's brothers) are at my grandpa's house, it seems to me that they bow to him as my siblings and I do to my father.

A mother is caring, loving and have a way with words. When a mother speaks to her child, it's not the same as how a father would speak to his child. A father is considered to be more challanging and unapprochable. To most, dads are to teach and guide you through while mothers are to catch you and help you when her help is needed. Plus in most situations fathers would reccomend you to go to your mother.

I believe that most mothers are supreme and more accountable than fathers. However to me it depends on the situation. Some things you can't talk to your mother about you turn to your father. But then some things you cant talk to him about you turn and go to your mother. Yet, even so there are times when you can't talk to neither of them and you turn to a friend, close relative or just someone else besides them.

So in closing, it greatly depends on who the person is and what the situation is. Those two aspects are important because they help determine how one may react. All men are not the same, just as all women are not the same. Mother's do things father's wouldn't do, and father's do thing's mother's wouldn't do. In a family, the wife may wear the pants, while the husband stays home and does what most would expect the wif to do. As an example it goes to show how th two points do effect a situation when it comes to a child searching for comfort either from their mother or father.

What I think the man in the fatherland is good and life is sweet means that the men have no worry of life and think that they can be strong as warriors and the men that they are in the story, but if things got sorrow they need some of the fatherland characteristics because women provide the men happiness.

Oknokwo he don't care, the only thing he care about is winning. He doesn't care for women's support of happiness. He thinks if he has the motherland's happiness, he would turn less than a man/warrior. That he would end up like his dad, failure and that is Okonkwo's deepest fear in life.

In the story the qoute "A man belongs to his fatherland when things are good and life is sweet. But when there is sorrow and bitterness he finds refuge in his motherland...And that is why we say that mother is surpreme." means that when things are all good they run to their fathers but when trouble comes that is when they want to run back to mommy. Or when mommy dont give them their way they want to go to daddy. That reminds me of when Okonkwo had to go and live with his mother. This qoute must also be about the women in Igbo.

For example in the story nwoye he really did not hang out with okonkwo. He hung out more with his mother, because nwoye did not want to do what his father does. Nwoye he just wanted to do what he liked to do instead of killing and all of the evil stuff that his father is into. "A man belongs to his fatherland when things are good and life is sweet. But when there is sorrow and bitterness he finds refuge in his motherland...And that is why we say that mother is surpreme."

I Believe it mean that aman belong to his fatherland when he has no worries in life itself then when something come cause and the chid dnt know what to do than that wen the mother come in because the motherland provide happiness and comfort.

Uchenda told Okonwo that when there is bitterness and sorrow the man finds refuge in his motherland. The mother is there to protect you in any situation. She is buried there in the motherland and that is why the mother is supreme.

Like I said before, a mom gives you emotional support. So a dad gives his children physical strength. He shows his children how the job is done. He gives instructions that must be followed or else. Dad gives the image of roughness and power.

I believe that most mothers are supreme and more accountable than fathers. However to me it depends on the situation. Some things you can't talk to your mother about you turn to your father. But then some things you cant talk to him about you turn and go to your mother. Yet, even so there are times when you can't talk to neither of them.
In conclusion the mother is supreme emotionally and the father is supreme physically.

"A man belongs to his fatherland when things are good and life is sweet. But when there is sorrow and bitterness he finds refuge in his motherland...And that is why we say that mother is surpreme." I believe in this statement.

First of of, I believe this statement that Uchendu stated. This is very true especiaaly in my generation. Supreme means highest or utmost. That's what most mothers are now, supreme. When you are with your father, you will be hanging out and just doing what boys do.

Just like the saying, boys will be boys. That's how it is with the son and father. Normally when you are with your mother, you are looking for that love and affection. Also if you get in trouble, you would start running to your mother instead of father. I would say because you know your father is the one with all the strength like Okonkwo so he would kick yor butt, or your father probably made the same mistakes as you did.

That statement is not for parents and childs. It is also for husband and wife or boyfriend and girlfriend or man and woman. In a world that's perfect the men would go to the women if they did something wrong and would go with there friends or "boys" when everything is cool. In our world it's when the men do something wrong, they make sure they stay away from the woman. When everything is cool they still go with there friends and somtimes with ther woman.

That is why so many women dump ther men. Then the men goes to there mother when something is wrong. That is why all of this is connected with Uchendu statement. Also that is why I believe in this statement.

"A man belongs to his fatherland when things are good and life is sweet. But when there is sorrow and bitterness he finds refuge in his motherland...And that is why we say that mother is supreme." What do you think this quote really means? Everybody might defined this quote in different ways, but the one thing in common is about their mother. What this quote means to me is that your father could tell you what you can do or could not do. But, the woman is always there to support anybody that needs help in any kind of situation.

Also, the relationship between a mother and a child starts from the first days of gestation. There is a stronger bond. This is because a mother carries the baby for nine months in her stomach. Even if a child has a good relationship with both parents, the relationship between a mother and a child is always deeper. The relationship is always deeper because mothers asked questions on how the situation started.

Uchenda told Okonkwo that when there is bitterness and sorrow, the man finds refuge in his motherland. For example, Okonkwo was feeling too much sorrow and bitterness because he had killed a few people and he didn't do it on purpose. The people he killed was accidental.

Mothers always give support on emional problems. Children half heritage from their father and half from their mother. A father gives his children physical strength. This mean that fathers show you how something must be done. He gives instructions so the work comes out the way it has to be.

On the other hand, when a father beats up his own child, the child would not trust him, he will trust on his mother. He will trust on his mother because his mother will understand the situation that is happening with her child. For example, when Okonkwo killed Ikemefuna, Nwoye didn't said anything to Okonkwo. Nwoye was mad at Okonkwo because he killed bomeone that was like his own and only brother. When a father does this, the children would not respect them any longer.

Lastly, this quote means that your mother is the one that is making you to be someone in life. What is the reason why your mother gets up early in the morning? "What goes around, comes around." What tis quote means is that if you learn how to be kind, respectful, and have good manners since the day you were born, you will always achieve what you want.

In conclusion.I believe and know that the men are stronger than the women. But, the women are the ones you can count on. Also, the women are the ones that always care for her child, doesn't matter if they do something wrong like going to jail. I also think mothers are more important than fathers. When children go to their mothers to talk to and comfort them during their worst time. But, if their children go to their father, i think fathers just make it worst.

Fatherland is man’s father homeland, and a motherland is a man’s mother homeland. The quote means when a man the in his prime or his life is good, he lives in his fatherland. But when that man is in trouble he go’s to his motherland to hid. And that ‘s why Okonkwo went to his motherland after being exile. But the real reason like what Okonkwo’s uncle said “When a father beats his child , it seeks sympathy in its mother’s hut.” what that’s means the motherland is like protect for the child.

Okonkwo went to his motherland , he was bitter, and upset about what had happened. If you don’t know Okonkwo by mistake killed a sixteen year old man. But Okonkwo ‘ uncle Uchendu said “ If you allow sorrow to weigh you down and kill you”. Well all that means is when you keep your pain and angry inside, you will kill yourself not the exile.

Okonkwo is a strong man I’ll give you that. But he was so afraid being a punk or weak that he couldn’t let his motherland’s happiness it his life. Because he don’t want to be like his father. Like it said in pervious chapters Okonkwo didn’t like his father because of the way he was and acted. And why Okonkwo tried so hard to be good than his father. But that turns in to a problem for him.

There are no soft spot on Okonkwo, well none that I can see. That Also the reason he cant be happy in his motherland. He thinks you to be tough all the time to be a man. It like me I hate to cry because also to me I think it’s a sign of weak. But when the tears come the tears come if you know what I mean. So in a way Okonkwo and I are the same, but I have a softer side.

Okonkwo wanted his son to be tough and never caring, but when Nwoye started to acted like Okonkwo’s father he started to hate he to . I think it really is Daddy problems. Okonkwo‘s father wasn’t a great man for his family , Okonkwo’s hate started to grow. But if Okonkwo ‘ father was a great dad , okonkwo would probably be a different person.

Okonkwo’s hated turn in to power. Power that he used be a great man in his fatherland. He didn’t that because he never wanted to be like his father. But now his hate started to turn on him, and made him a different person, a mean and angry person and he couldn’t stop it.

Well to sum it up, Okonkwo was to stubborn let his motherland ‘ happiness in side his hearted. Okonkwo wanted all his son to be hard and tough like him, but nwoye couldn’t be that , and that drove okonkwo crazy. Really Okonkwo had a problem with his father , but he never didn’t do something about it. The problem got bigger and caused pain to all the people around his famliy.

"A man belongs to his fatherland when things are good and life is sweet. But when there is sorrow and bitterness he finds refuge in his motherland...And that is why we say that mother is supreme." I think this quote means that when you are in your fatherland that everything is good when you learn from your father and his knowledge. But when there is sadness you go to your motherland because she makes you feel better when something is bothering you. That’s why the motherland is supreme than the fatherland.

For example in the story Nwoye he really doesn’t like his father or spend time with him as much. Nwoye spends time with his mother because he hate his fathers actions and what he stands for. Nwoye wants to be independent to do his own things instead of killing people and believing the Igbo religion. Okonkwo really is not their to help him with his problems and his mother is very understanding of his problems around the village.

This quote could also mean that when the father is teaching stuff to his son everything is great. When the father gets angry at his son and beats him with a stick or his bear hands he goes running to his mother. The mother makes the child feel better and show love when they feel sad. The motherland is supreme because they make the child feel better and shows them more love than the hard rock of the father.

For example when Nwoye was hanging out with the missionaries, Okonkwo was angry with him for being a trader. His father beat him and choked him against the wall for being a trader. Nwoye run to his mother to make him feel better after being beaten by his father for wanting to believe in something else. Okonkwo is an example of a non supportive father and has to be in control of his sons life, and the way he has to live by.

Okonkwo is to aggressive and controlling when it comes to his sons life and religion. He just wants what he think is right for his son and doesn’t really care about what the son feels about it. My father wants me to become a mechanic when I get older and wantes me to follow his foot steps so bad he would do anything. When I said that I wanted to be a doctor he got very mad at me for not liking what he likes, I was very disappointed at him for feeling that way. My father cant force me to do something I don’t want to do in the first place, like what Okonkwo is doing with Nwoye.

A mother is loving and sweet when it comes to their children’s problems or emotions. They are very sensitive about their children’s feelings and show them love in their time of need. Nwoye spends time with his mother because she acts like this with him and Okonkwo is just plain mean to him. The motherland is way much better when you feel emotional so that they could make you feel better, but the fatherland is to strict and ruthless when their children are emotional in front of them

In conclusion I believe that a mom is more better than a dad because they show more love to you. It sometime depends because the mother could also be mean, than the father can be sweet instead. The fatherland in the story makes it seem like they are only good to teach their children about fighting and war. While their motherland teaches them about kindness and care when comes to other people, so I think that the motherland is way better than the fatherland because emotions are more important than anything .

Although a dad is the head of the family, a mother is stronger. I don’t mean physically. I mean stronger on a loving, tender and sometimes verbally speaking. A mom would talk in a sweeter way to her child. A dad is physically stronger compared to a mom.

The child does belongs to the father, but when the father beats his child,it seeks sympathy in it's mother's land. The motherland feels sorr for the child sorrow and wishes to do something about because the men need something good to happen and that's when the women step in.

What the saying really means is that if something is going wrong in your father land. You will always have your motherland to go to.You may not leave your fatherland for no other reason but that.If everything is sweet, there is no reason for you to go to your motherland.okonkwo did not know what that meant until his uncle told him.

I truely believe in this statement that Uchendu stated. This is very true especiaaly in my generation. Supreme means highest or upmost. That's what most mothers are now, have backbone in the family. They are strong harted. When you are with your father, you will be hanging out and just doing what boys do.

But his mother kind of could understand if nwoye had problems personally.

for the second part of the quote...Okonkwo went to his motherland , he was bitter, and upset about what had happened. If you don’t know Okonkwo by mistake killed a sixteen year old man. But Okonkwo ‘ uncle Uchendu said “ If you allow sorrow to weigh you down and kill you”. Well all that means is when you keep your pain and angry inside, you will kill yourself not the exile

in conclution, mothers have more backbone over the family than the father.A mother is loving and sweet when it comes to their children’s problems or emotions. They are very sensitive about their children’s feelings and show them love in their time of need. anytime i need this kind of attention i go to my grandma or my mother.

In the quote stated to me above is telling me that the mother is the head person in charge. She protects you from mostly all hurt , harm and danger. If there is something that Onkonkwo did wrong he would be put to his motherland. If Okonkwo life is swell then he would be in his fathersland.

Okonkwo was sent to Umofia for killing someone. He stayed there in exile for seven full years. Umofia is where his motherland is at. When he came to Umofia he wasn't presented the way he thought he would be. The only one who presented him with respect was his uncle and mother.

For doing what he did to the person he was punished crucially. He wasn't able to get the throne as the clan. When you are with your mother it is mostly for personal reason. He did something he should regret She was suppose to mostly keep him comfort. But also teach Okonkwo a lesson learn. Something that all mothers do.

When Okonkwo came back to his home land he found many differences. He had to make 2 extra huts for his new wives and other things. Would you think that Okonwo would learn his lesson after his 7 year exile ? Unfortunately he didn't .

In conclusion to this I think the mother is there for there reasons. As in caring ,comforting the child. The man is there to build them and keep them strong. Physical Strength is what you call it. They both have important roles in you r life .

Father land means the land that your father’s family lives on. Motherland is the land your mother’s family lives on. Excluded means that someone is not allowed to be involved. Okonkwo was excluded from Umofia because he accidentally killed someone. He would not have been excluded if he would have not fled the murder scene.

“A man belongs to his fatherland when things are good and life is sweet. But when there is sorrow and bitterness he finds refuge in his motherland...And that is why we say that mother is supreme." This quote was said because men don’t respect women in Umofia. This quote means to me, if you cannot do well in your father’s footsteps you should rely on your mother last. The quote says the mother land is supreme because you can rely on the motherland if something bad happens.

When Okonkwo got in trouble for the murder he was excluded from Umofia. He was not allowed to come back to live in Umofiafor seven years. He would have not been in trouble if he did not flee from the scene. He had to go to his mothers land Mbanta. He was going to live there for seven years.

When the quote says “a man belongs to his fatherland when things are good and life is sweet”, means that if you don’t have a problem you should live in your fathers land. If you get in trouble you should live in your mothers land. The quote makes the mother land seem like it is a punishment. It is a punishment in the book because that is where Okonkwo goes to live when he gets kicked out of Umofia. He had no other choice to go anywhere else.

When Okonkwo went to go to his mother land he did not like it. He had to build his obi all over again. Okonkwo had nothing but family. He had to start working on a new farm to grow his yams. Okonkwo hated being there. In the book he said the time was passing by slowly, “like he was there forever”.

The last thing I have to say about the quote is that the mother land is called supreme because Okonkwo could rely on it if he got in trouble. When Okonkwo got in trouble he went to his mother land. That is why I think the mother land is called “supreme”. Without the mother land Okonkwo would have nothing. He would be just like his father without his motherland. That is why I think the mother land is known as supreme.

As you can see that’s my Opinion on the quote. As I said before, Okonkwo would be nothing without his mother land. I believe that Okonkwo would really like to go back to Umofia. When he does go back I think he will be upset. I believe he will be upset because of the missionaries.

in the story "things fall apart" there are many quotes. everyone in Umofia fallows one or more of them. in this quote his uncle is saying:"A man belongs to his fatherland when things are not good and life is going wrong.

I believe Okonkwo’s uncle , Uchendu stated that “ a man belongs to his fatherland when things are good and life is sweet . To my under standing when there is sorrow and bitterness he finds refuge in his mother land .And that’s why we say that the Mother land is Supreme. Meaning if anything goes completely wrong in the father land you can always go to the motherland

To me it means that the man in the fatherland is awesomely good not having to worry about problem s that might go wrong .Making them think that they can be strong ,powerful and full of wisdom .But if some thing was to go wrong they could always fall back on there mother land . For there they can be treated the right way with there characteristics.
Okonkwo in fact doest care for anything that a women can offer only but meals and children that but he’s more self centered he really cares about winning wrestling proving he’s strong . But he believes if he takes support from the mother land it would make him less than a man also a warrior .

A man belongs to his fatherland . When you’re with your father mostly every thing most go completely right. Anything and everything you do as a father must in fact be well done with out no errors so that’s basically what it means to have a good life in the father land .

This quote also means that only a mother of a child can possible handle enormous problems that the child might be having in its life in which the father is blinded and cant see the problem .Its like as if mothers have motherly instinct. The only person through out a child’s life that would understand them by any means way better then any one in the world is there parents the signals that the child may through a mothers instinct would most likely catch it even if there’s no words being said.

In fact if was not for okonkwo’s motherland he wouldn’t have had anywhere to go for the exile .He might of went and relocated him self in a far distance beyond his mother land and would of never came back to his father land . That why its proven that the mother land is supreme. Because even thought his mom died she has helped him with a home for his family and his self .

In conclusion its proven that the mother land is in fact supreme in this case . Okonkwo and found refuge there even though he belonged to his fatherland he actually became one with his motherland throwing a feisty for thank you gifts .

The quote "A man belongs to his fatherland when things are good and life is sweet. I think that this quote means that A man Belongs to his Father Land but if Anything goes wrong He culd always go to his mother's Land.

I think That This quote Has something to do with when Okonkwo was kicked out of his fatherland. and had to go to the motherland. he was kicked out of the father land for disobeying the law. he mistakenly shot a young boy and was sent away.

I also think that this quote means that if the child is sent to his motherland he could learn thing.he could learn things that he did not learn from his fatherland.

He would learn things like how to be remoreseful. and how to get over thing and start feeling better about things that why when they feel sorrow and bitterness They go to the motherland.

When Okonkwo went to his motherland. he recived alot of help on alot of things.that he would of never been help on in his father land.his mother helped him alot thats why she is supreme.

Also he recieved alot of love in his motherland. the mother gave him alot of emotional strengh while in his fatherland the strenth he was givin was mostly pysical.

In conclusion, The quote means that if everything is good a sweet the fatherland is where you need to be because there if evrything is good you would really need help and advice. but if u are feeling sorrow and bitterness The motherland is were you need to be beacuse there you would get a lot of help and alot of strengh also there you would get shown more love.

It is said that behind every man there is a great women. In the book “Things Fall Apart” A man belongs to his fatherland when things are good and life is sweet. But when there is sorrow and bitterness he finds refuge in his motherland...And that is why we say that mother is supreme. All men that go to their father land only go or stay because they’re happy. Sometimes men don’t know how to handle certain things and don’t know how to comfort each other. So they go to their motherland and it is always said that mother knows best and who knows more about comforting you then your own mother.

For example, when your really upset about something guys don’t really want to show their fathers their emotional side so they go to their mothers for comfort and support something they cant get from their fathers. In the book Nwoye never really liked showing Okonkwo his emotional side and hid his feelings for fear that his father wouldn’t approve of him. The same way Okonkwo didn’t approve his fathers emotions and actions. The dad is also said to be the leader of the family the one who makes all decisions but, a mother is the rock of the family. The one who knows where everything is and offers support she’s the one who stands behind a man and offers the man advice.

A mother offers emotional strength and support while a father offers physical strength and support. Okonkwo beat Nwoye when he cried over Ikemefunas’ death so Nwoye went to his mother and told her what happened. The fatherland is really place for warriors and fighting where you have to be strong and a leader. While a motherland is where you go when you have a problem or cant do the things you should be able to do your father land. A dad is the head of the family, but a mother is the backbone of the family. That is one of the reasons why mother is supreme.

Uchenda told Okonkwo to comfort his wives and children and take them back to his fatherland after seven years. Comfort is something you find in your motherland so during his exile Okonkwo went to his motherland in a way seeking comfort. Something his uncle gave him other than land and a place to live was great comforting advice. Uchenda told Okonkwo that if he allow sorrow to weigh him down and kill him, the family would die in exile. So not only do you need your fatherland but you also need your motherland the same way you need both your mother and father.

A father shows you and teaches you how to do things a mother cant teach or show you they provide the physical strength you need to survive. A mother provides the shelter, comfort and advice you need in order to feel happy and like the world isn’t crushing you. A father can be ruthless while a mother can be caring and protective. When a mother protects those she loves and cares most about nothing can get in a way. A quality a father doesn’t have and cant really understand in my opinion with out a woman a man would be lost.

A mother or women is a trusted and supported figure that keeps the peace and balance in a house hold. A mother is someone you go to who you know will always be there no matter what and is the person you can go to. Mothers are supportive and always help their families to their best of their abilities. They shouldn’t be left for granted like they are in “Things Fall Apart”. they should be treated with the upmost respect and should be consider supreme.

In conclusion, behind every man there’s a great women. Men are said to be men stronger than women but, women are the true spirit and holder of the family. That is why it is said that mother is supreme. A should belong to the mother and not the father it doesn’t seem right that you go to your father land when there is great happiness and you go to your mother land when there is great sorrow. When cant you go to your motherland when there is happiness why most women be the ones surrounded by problems and sorrow.

A mother or women is a trusted and supported figure that keeps the peace and balance in a house hold. A mother is someone you go to who you know will always be there no matter what and is the person you can go to. Mothers are supportive and always help their families to their best of their abilities. They shouldn’t be left for granted like they are in “Things Fall Apart”. they should be treated with the upmost respect.
